We invite you to submit your presentation or workshop content in the IDLA 2025 seminar’s digital publication. This publication is a key component of the annual IDLA seminar. The theme for this year is Linguistic Accessibility and Well-being. The purpose of the publication is to capture the diverse contributions from the presentations and workshops. The primary audiences are experts in linguistic accessibility, students, and professionals from various sectors and organizations interested in the topic.
You may submit an article for peer review or an article not intended to be peer-reviewed.
Peer-reviewed article
Peer-reviewed IDLA articles will be published in a special section on the topic Linguistic accessibility in the Mikael journal in December 2025. The authors of the articles are lecturers and workshop leaders from the IDLA seminar, which may include individual authors, co-authors, and groups of authors.
Mikael is a peer-reviewed open-access online journal featuring original scientific articles. Mikael has been published since 2007 and has been peer-reviewed since 2016. Both the Finnish Publication Forum and the Norwegian Register of Scientific Journals, Series, and Publishers classify Mikael as a level 1 journal. Mikael is published by the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (SKTL). Since 2024, Mikael has been available on the Finnish academic journal platform, journal.fi. Non-peer-reviewed article
Non-peer-reviewed articles will be published as an online publication by Diak in spring 2025. The authors of these articles are lecturers and workshop leaders from the IDLA seminar, including other professionals in the field of linguistic accessibility. The collection of articles will be released in spring 2025 in Diak’s publication series as an open-access digital publication.
Schedule of non-peer-reviewed article
Please send all documents to lena.segler-heikkila@diak.fi.
- Submit the first version of your article by October 31, 2024. You will receive feedback by November 30, 2024.
- Submit the second version of your article by January 15, 2025. Also, provide any images, diagrams, tables, etc., as separate attachment files. Additionally, include an English abstract of your article (1000-1500 characters including spaces). You will receive feedback by February 15, 2025.
- Submit the final version of your article by March 1, 2025.
The layout process will take place in March-April 2025.
Article length of non-peer-reviewed article
The article should be 15,000–30,000 characters including spaces. The publication will consist of 10-15 articles.
Article formattin of non-peer-reviewed article
- Use Times New Roman font, size 12. Line spacing and paragraph spacing should be 1.5. Margins: left 3 cm, right 2 cm, top and bottom 2.5 cm. Page numbers should be in the top right corner of the page.
- Follow the Diak referencing guide.
- Start the text with a concise 2-3 sentence lead.
- Headings should be clear and reflect the content (the headings Introduction and Summary can be used). Do not number the headings.
- Align text to the left (do not center).
- Do not use automatic or manual hyphenation or paragraph indentation.
- Do not use footnotes in the text.
