In the workshop, we will focus on different strategies that persons with a migratory background use when aiming to live a good and happy life as members of the community in the country they have moved to. After a short presentation of a research that was made from November 2023 until February 2024, we will discuss different aspects of well-being focusing on how to live in and with two concepts of “normality” – on one hand, the old world that consisted of certain internal and external legalities still remaining in the person’s mind and on the other hand the new world that also consists of legalities to be reflected and adapted to. We will especially discuss identity and language questions. The workshop will be supported by experience experts, all persons that moved to Finland a long time ago. They will tell us about their strategies towards inclusion and happiness in the “new world”.
